Neal Farber, PhD - Co-President

Neal is a molecular biologist and has over 25 years experience in the biotech industry in research, product development and company building. Neal is currently CEO of NeuroHealing Pharmaceuticals, whose mission is to improve the neurorehabilitation process and functional outcome for patients who have suffered brain injuries.Neal was a Helen Hay Whitney Research Fellow at Harvard University, received his PhD (Hammett Award) from Columbia University and a BSc in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Stephen Maier, CPA - Co-President

Stephen is a certified public accountant with Ernst & Young LLP. He has a BS in Accounting from Santa Clara University. He was diagnosed in 1990 with KLS, two years after his first episode.

Richard B. Maier, CPA - Chief Financial Officer

Richard has a BS in Accounting from San Jose State University. He has been a CPA for over 25 years as a sole practitioner. Richard is a QuickBooks Pro Advisor and has taught QuickBooks classes in many locations. He was active in youth sports when his children were in school.

Lucinda Maier, Founder, Support Chairperson

Lucinda is the mother of Stephen Maier. In an effort to contact others with KLS, she put up the first website on Kleine-Levin Syndrome when her son Stephen was diagnosed with KLS. She and her husband Richard incorporated the KLS Foundation as a non-profit organization in 1999.

Varda Farber, Fundraising Chairperson

Varda is a veteran teacher and educator. She holds a BA in psychology and education from Queens College, New York, and completed graduate studies in religious education at Hebrew Union College in NY. Varda has held numerous leadership roles in a variety of local and national non-profit organizations.

Lori Haller, Media Chairperson

Mother of Eric Haller who was diagnosed with KLS in 2004. He has been featured on Los Angeles newscasts and CNN News to help bring awareness to the public about KLS. Lori is a Physical Education teacher for the Brea School District and a very involved parent with the PTA and city issues regarding children.

Dani Farber - Secretary

Dani is an equity trader in NYC.  He graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in Finance and Marketing.  Dani will be an MBA student at Columbia University in the fall of 2007.  He was diagnosed with KLS in 1995 at the age of 15, and has suffered 17 episodes.  Inspired by his parents dedication to the KLS Foundation, Dani joined as the newest Board member in 2006.
